What a Rough Week!

OK...so I fianlly get to come down here and tell everyone about our week. Sunday Anna seemed a little "gooey eyed" when we were at Mom's for my and Brian's birthday, but I just thought it was her cold settling in her eyes. Well, that night at 10:00, she woke up screaming and when I went to give her a bottle, I could tell even in the dimly lit nursery that she looked funny. These pictures (even thought they don't do it justice)are what we saw when Eric turned on the light. Her eyes were both red and swollen and she couldn't even open the left one! We were so scared and after giving her a few minutes to see if she got better, we called the after hours nurse. Eric had to drive to Roebuck at 11:00 to get her some drops and the nurse said, "we just don't play with baby's eyes!" Of course, we were scared but did as she said and woke Anna to put in the drops once more at 3:30 before calling Dr. Lytle first thing Monday morning. When he saw her, he was concerned and said he would have thought it was an ear infection that had backed up in her eyes, but found that it wasn't. It was a bad case of bacterial PINK EYE! Yikes - I have never had or even been around that stuff but have heard lots of fun stories about it! I felt terrible that it had gotten so bad, but I swear it was fast! No one in my family had thought anything about it Sunday either.

To top off the day, Eric also went to the Dr. on Monday and brought home three prescriptions for bronchitis and of course, Molly Kate got "the eye" on Tuesday so off to the pharmacy again! If you have never had to put eye drops in a 3 1/2 year old's eyes, you should. Everyone should have to endure that drama (or should I say trauma!). Eric and I are counting down until her last dose on Sunday afternoon!!

We are better now and looking forward to next week being a little less hectic. I hope I never have to wash my hands or use Lysol again!!

Oh My!! Yes, administering any type of medicine, especially eye drops, to a toddler should earn all of us parents extra "stars" in our crowns! Ha! We have not had to endure the pink eye YET, but it doesn't look like any fun....bless her heart!
